Two chypré fragrances that are diametrically opposed in tone and flavor are Roja Parfums’ Oligarch and Yves Saint Laurent’s Tuxedo. The former conveys a spicy freshness while the latter is warm and resinous. However, within their disparity lies some redeemingly unifying elements: vanilla, patchouli, lily, and violet! We made sure to opt for the higher quality renditions of these raw materials for the ultimate effect. Bourbon vanilla is used for a deep and sensual feel, and fractionated patchouli oil gives us the earth without the harshness. Both of the original fragrances are expensive with Oligarch falling within the $300 range for a 50ml bottle. In the case of Tuxedo, a full-sized bottle is $250. In this most recent mash up, we take out the guesswork by fusing together the most enticing elements of each fragrance! Tux for the Monarch is inspired by a hybrid of our versions of Yves Saint Laurent’s Tuxedo and Roja Parfums’ Oligarch, and it is the perfect balance of fresh and warm! A long lasting base of birch, patchouli, amber, and vanilla keeps the perfume alive for many hours. Tux for the Monarch excels in versatility, and the aroma itself is unforgettable!
