I'm a Shalimar Stan now matter how many times the younger generations badmouth it. My mother wore it & I can remember how excited she would get when my father gave it to her. It was the first "real" perfume I ever wore. When I saw Dua had found the 70s version my mother had worn, I had to have it. One spray turned me back into that tween girl that longed to wear perfume and go to cocktail parties. It's fantastic! Thank you, Dua!
I blind-bought this for science, and fell in love! I remember as a young girl in the early 80s smelling Shalimar and being spellbound by the bottle and the fragrance, and I am sure I smelled Shalimar in the 70s too, but I don't remember exactly the scent profile. I was delighted when I sprayed this, though. I did not expect it to be as sunny and cheerful as it is. It is so lovely, and on my skin fairly light. This is not a huge room filler, so it is actually safe for work. It is very citrus-forward, but the dry down is deliciously creamy (not in a gourmand way). The sprayer is, by the way, magnificent. I am so pleased with this purchase! This is perfect for late summer (or anytime you need some sunshine in your life). Does not smell "overly mature" to me, but it is sophisticated. I don't know why more people aren't talking about DUA! I have been uniformly happy with my purchases and will definitely be back for more!
SHALIMAR, 1970'S FORMULATION: I just received my bottle, will allow note maturation but at first spray, I am in love! Once the vanilla comes through, it will be perfection in elegance. I never tried original but I am a Guerlain admirer!
Bliss! This actually does smell like the vintage Shalimar. It smells better than the Shalimar on the market today. This is in my top 3 favorite scents and unlike Chanel #5 this doesn't smell dated even though this also has a sort of powder dry down scent.
Pure Heaven! I have been a fragrance lover for decades! I “ cut my teeth” many years ago on Shalimar. Nur Jahan’s Elixir is not like “ modern” Shalimar. To my nose, Nur is softer and more rounded- absolutely gorgeous! Staying power is exceptional as is sillage! Thank you, Dua!
